It started off when I saw the beauty of the colour and structure of those rusty,
crushed drink cans that you find littering the streets.
So I picked up a few to do something with them one day, as a change from my usual work as a sculptress.
Besides cans I now pick up many other sorts of 'old iron'. Almost anything can turn out useful.
Especially bicycles lose lots of interesting parts in the street.
The metal trays I use as a background or basis for my collages are bought in jumble sales and flea markets.
I prefer making figures and heads and in this I feel akin to Giuseppe Archimboldo, a 16th century Italian painter whose heads are composed of fruit, vegetables, flowers and fish.
